Alabama State House Rep. Adeline Clarke proposed that a one mile stretch on DIP be dedicated as the William Henry Dotch Memorial Mile.

On May 7, 2019, a resolution passed and was supported by Rep. Barbara Drummond and Rep. Sam Jones.

On Friday, September 27, 2019 a ceremony was held at South Brookley United Methodist Church on Dauphin Island Parkway. Senator Vivian Davis Figures and City Councilman CJ Small were also in attendance.
